3D Printing World Premiere: VarseoSmile Crown plus – the First 3D Printing Hybrid Material for Permanent Crowns

BEGO, the dental expert from Bremen, presents the world's first tooth-colored, ceramic-filled hybrid material for 3D printing of permanent single crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers.

As a specialist in all dental technology processes with more than 20 years of experience, especially in the field of dental 3D printing, BEGO is now presenting a world premiere in the field of 3D printing materials.

VarseoSmile Crown plus is the world's first approved, tooth-colored, ceramic-filled hybrid material that was specially developed for the 3D printing of permanent single crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers and is available in seven VITA* classical shades (A1, A2, A3, B1 , B3, C2, D3). The material fulfills all requirements for a class IIa medical device in accordance with the EC directive “Medical Devices” 93/42 / EEC. VarseoSmile Crown plus has been scientifically validated with renowned universities and institutes.

"Printed restorations made from VarseoSmile Crown plus are stand out, among other things, with their excellent aesthetics, low tendency to age and discoloration and a high wearing comfort for the patient," Olga Marbach, product manager for 3D printing at BEGO Bremen Goldschlägerei, says. “The biocompatible material is antagonist-friendly and, thanks to its mechanical buffering effect, also ideally suited for the manufacture of implant-supported crowns. A high adhesive bond of the material with luting composites prevents the decementation and thus the possible formation of secondary caries”, Marbach continues.

In addition to the 3D printing world premiere VarseoSmile Crown plus, BEGO presents another highlight: the Varseo XS, a compact and cost-effective 3D printer, specially developed for dental applications. “Together, material and device form the perfect symbiosis for the 3D printing of permanent supplies. With its handy building platform, the Varseo XS enables the printing of up to 20 individual crowns – and this at a building speed of approximatively 30 mm per hour and regardless of the number of elements to be produced”, Olga Marbach explains.

Printing and processing parameters specially developed for the resin ensure smooth production sequences with reproducible results at any time. High values of flexural strength and flexural modulus ensure high dimensional stability and strength of the printed objects and therefore a precise fit. The material is very easy to handle because it does not sediment and therefore does not have to be shaken and mixed before every use. The printed supply can be easily grinded and polished.

VarseoSmile Crown plus is now available in the EU, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
